MonologueSlam UK returns to West Yorkshire Playhouse!
Performers from all backgrounds and disciplines undertake a gruelling series of auditions, including a youth round for 11-16 year olds, before 20 of them are chosen to perform in front of an audience and to impress a panel of professionals who are in a position to progress their careers. MonologueSlam UK brings you the newest and most exciting talent in the UK!

Red Door Management established in 2006, is at the cutting edge of artist representation with offices based at both Great Western Studios, London, as well as its head office in the heart of Manchester’s MediaCity. Red Door represents Actors in TV, Film, Theatre, Voice Over work and Commercials.
Marking its 10th Anniversary this year, Red Door has had an impressive decade of client successes from the multi-million pound Studio Canal Period Drama, Versailles, to achieving many regular and guest roles in ITV’s Coronation Street and Emmerdale, BBC’s Casualty and Channel 4’s Hollyoaks. Their artists are also featured in numerous still campaigns for major brands and commercials such as Reebok, Co-Op, Morrisons, McDonalds and Warner Music.
Red Door Voices has an impressive list of credits with artists featured in the animated series, Mike The Knight for Hit Entertainment and Dinosaur Train for Nickelodeon as well as many Radio 4 Dramas and Gaming projects.
Prior to joining to Red Door, Siobhan had over three years’ experience working at a top London agency and is thrilled to be part of the judging panel for the Leeds Monologue Slam and is looking forward to supporting and celebrating the talent of the North!
Broad Acting Management was founded in Leeds in 2013 and has grown to have additional offices in London’s Mayfair and Manchester with LA offices opening in 2016. Broad is owned and managed by Katy Edwards who has over 30 years industry experience in both London and America . Katy started her career as an artist herself training at the Sylvia Young Theatre School and securing regular and guest roles on many soaps and dramas across the UK and America. Deciding that she would like to spend more time behind the camera took the risk of declining another regular soap role and moved into production, producing some award winning programmes! While producing a celebrity reality show Katy was offered the role of Commercial Agent with an established London agency and has never looked back!
Katy and all the team at Broad Acting Management Ltd are delighted to be on the judging panel for the Leeds monologue slam and are looking forward to seeing and supporting the growth and development of artists in the North of the UK.
Mark has been Associate Director at West Yorkshire Playhouse since 2013. He was Studio Associate at the National Theatre (2011 -13), ran Dumbfounded Theatre from 2001 as well as working as a freelancer director. Mark is a Trustee for the JMK Young Directors Trust, an association he has maintained since winning the JMK Award in 1999. He has directed productions for Oxford Stage Company, Shakespeare’s Globe, WYP, Northampton Theatres, Bristol Old Vic, the Young Vic, English National Opera, Hightide Festival, Sheffield Theatres, amongst many others. He has also directed for BBC Radio and written for film.
Theatre credits include: The Solid Gold Cadillac (Garrick); Dangerous Corner (West Yorkshire Playhouse/West End); Round the Horne… Revisited, Dracula (National tours); Singin’ in the Rain (West Yorkshire Playhouse, NT/National tour); Aspects of Love, All The Fun of the Fair and The Witches of Eastwick (National Tours); Kes (Liverpool and National Tour); Great Expectations (ETT/Watford and National tor),Sweeney Todd (Royal Festival Hall) and national tours of Beautiful Thing, James & The Giant Peach, Horrible Histories and many more.
Kay was resident at the West Yorkshire Playhouse for 17 years where she cast many shows including the McKellen Ensemble Season, the Patrick Stewart Priestley Season and many others, and also casts regularly for Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, Leicester Curve, Derby Theatre, Sherman Cardiff and the West Yorkshire Playhouse where she is Associate Artist (Casting).
Kay is a member of the Casting Director’s Guild of Great Britain (CDG).
Ben is originally from Perth, Scotland and relocated to Yorkshire in 2002 to study Creative Writing at Leeds University. For the stage, Ben has previously written ‘Bittersweet Sunshine’ for Red Ladder in 2010, ‘Cold Turkey at Nana’s’ for Oran Mor / Perth Theatre in 2012 and ‘The Thing about Psychopaths’, which toured nationally in 2013. He was one of eight writers selected for the 2011/12 BBC Writers Academy and gained credits on ‘Doctors’, ‘Eastenders’ and ‘Casualty’ as a result. In October 2014, Ben joined the writing team on ITV Coronation Street.
In addition, he also ‘Triple Word Score’, his first commission for BBC Radio 4, which was broadcast as the afternoon play in 2015.
Denise Morgan shot to fame on The Voice of Ireland, making it all the way to the Semi-Finals.
Denise wowed all four coaches during the blind auditions with her own song, If You Love Me Say You Love Me and chose Bressie (Niall Breslin) as her coach.
Beating off stiff competition, Denise continued to impress the coaches staying to perform in several episdoes of the Voice of Ireland live shows.
Denise soon revealed her musical creativity and versatility by applying her own twist to The Stone Roses’, Ten Storey Love Song, Natasha Bedingfield’s, These Words, and finally, Skunk Anansie’s, Weak in the Semi-Finals.
