Jane Davies – Casting Director
Over 30 years as a Casting Director specialising in TV Comedy. Nina Lee – Agent, Nina Lee Management
Nina has been working in the industry for 16 years now, starting as an assistant at 17 years old, making tea, FAXING headshots and CVs to Casting Directors and learning the ropes as she progressed to Assistant Agent, Agent, Senior Agent and now runs her own agency . Nina Lee Management Ltd is a dynamic, energetic agency full of ambition and drive teamed with years of experience representing a diverse client list currently working in various projects including West End and No1 touring productions, regular TV roles on screen, feature films, radio drama and commercials. The books are currently open.
Sonia Allam – Casting Associate, Lime Pictures
Sonia first began working in casting at ITV’s Emmerdale alongside Faye Styring (Casting Director) as an assistant after graduating from Leeds Metropolitan University.
Since 2011 Sonia has worked at Lime Pictures as a Casting Assistant and worked her way to a Casting Associate alongside Rick Laxton (Head of casting) on shows such as Nickelodeons ‘House of Anubis’, E4’s Pilot Comedy’s, Channel 4’s ‘Hollyoaks’, CBBC’s ‘Rockets Island’ and currently Disney’s ‘The Evermoor Chronicles’.
Sonia was recently asked to cover at the BBC for ‘Holby City’ & ‘BBC iPlayer Shorts’ assisting Casting Directors such as John Cannon, Liz Stoll & Derek Barnes.
She also works with local schools running youth workshops for Lime Academy’s talent pool, as well as running her own workshops around the UK with agents and drama schools.
Nicci Topping – Casting Director
Nicci Topping was born and raised in Yorkshire and operates Topps casting in the UK.
She has many years experience of casting for feature films, television commercials, short films, dramas, pop promos, videos, voice-overs, photographic assignments and the theatre. Her skills are many and varied: Negotiating, casting, research and communication. She has recently cast Feature films; Slapper and Me, The Rise of the Krays, The Black Prince and Northern Soul. She has also cast for many high profile television commercials, most recently Vidal Sassoon, Gillette, Vodafone, Pepsi, Amazon and Tesco mobile. Recent promos include; Lisa Stansfield ‘Carryon,’ Gorgon City, ‘Ready for your love’ and the Award Winning Chase & Status ‘Blind Faith.’
Nicci has offices in the North (Yorkshire)and South (London) and much of her work is done for UK and International clients.
Bill Petrie – Agent, BWH
Bill started out in the industry studying at drama school. He left his native Scotland for London in 1984 to train at The Webber Douglas Academy for 3 years, and worked as an actor until early 2000.
He then branched out in to casting and agenting, spending a few years tempting for several major UK casting directors and agents.
In October 2004, Bill founded The BWH Agency along with Joe Hutton, Lisa Willoughby, and Andrew Braidford. In the last 10 years the agency has grown to represent actors both here in the UK and internationally.
Madani Younis – Artistic Director, Bush Theatre
Madani Younis took over as Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre in 2012. In 2013 he programmed the company’s most successful season to date, which saw the theatre play to 99% capacity. For the Bush he has directed The Royale by Marco Ramirez, Perseverance Drive by Robin Soans and Chalet Lines by Lee Mattinson.
Prior to his appointment at the Bush, he was Artistic Director of Freedom Studios in Bradford, Yorkshire where his work included the site-specific work, The Mill – City of Dreams. He has also worked nationally and internationally as theatre director, writer and practitioner. Whilst at Freedom Studios Madani collaborated with the Bush Theatre through workshops culminating in Freedom’s two week residency in 2010 at the theatre. He was previously Director of Red Ladder Theatre Company’s Asian Theatre School.
Madani originally trained in film, and his debut short film Ellabellapumpanella, commissioned by the UK Film Council, was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2007. He was the recipient of the Decibel Award at the South Bank Awards show in 2006.
Shoot From The Hip! are one of London’s premiere improvisational comedy troupes, who have been impressing and entertaining audiences since 2011. Shoot From The Hip! are Luke Manning, Paul Raymond, Thomas Mayo, Sam Russell, and Joshua Mills.
Their incredible show is completely unscripted and is comprised of short scenes and games, blending witty one-liners and hilarious character comedy with off-the-cuff storytelling.
Shoot From The Hip! have been the resident improvisers at Drury Lane’s Top Secret Comedy Club since November 2011, at MonologueSlamUK’s showcases since 2012, and at Angel Comedy since January 2014. They’ve also performed at events such as Hoopla shows, Christ College Cambridge’s May Ball, and The Oxjam Charity Festival, picking up mentions in The Metro and Londonist along the way.
The latest artist to bring a fresh new take on the soul and pop genres is the talented singer and songwriter, Rene Byrd. A driven musician with a powerful voice, her heartfelt lyrics are set to touch listeners across the globe.
Coming from a religious and musical background, her father was a music producer and her uncle a Gospel singer, now internationally known as ‘Bishop John Francis’, whose choir sang for HRH Majesty the Queen at the Royal Variety Show. John Francis also had a gospel TV show broadcast on Channel 4 called ‘People Get Ready’.
Some of Rene’s past performances and guest appearances include a show at the world-famous Elstree Film Studios, the TG Foundation’s charity event (featuring Lady Gaga’s designer Vera Thordardottir), Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris, ’Live at Delancey Street’, ’Read Between the Lines’ with Traci Ellis Ross for BET America, ‘An Electric night with Rene Byrd’ at Annabel’s Private Members club in Mayfair, and a performance at the National Art Gallery for the Prime Minister of Lithuania, accompanied by George Michael’s and Emeli Sandé’s band members.
Roy Francis (Roy Francis Productions) will also work to promote Rene in both the UK and American market; having previously been responsible for producing shows and appearances for Michelle Williams (Destiny’s Child), Mary Mary and Trey Songz.
She has also become involved in ‘Teens Unite’, the charity founded by Karen Millen OBE, and is an ambassador for ‘The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund’. She also supports the Target Ovarian Cancer Charity to help to create awareness and aid fundraising, partnered with Rochay Elite.
