MonologueSlam UK at Theatre Royal Stratford East

Tickets available to book now!

Performers from all backgrounds and disciplines undertake a gruelling series of auditions, including a youth round for 11-16 year olds, before 20 of them are chosen to perform in front of an audience and to impress a panel of professionals who are in a position to progress their careers. MonologueSlam UK brings you the newest and most exciting talent in the UK!

Rez Kabir

Rez Kabir (Artistic Director – Tamarind Theatre)

Rez Kabir, actor, storyteller of stage, screen and television. He has contributed to educational and community projects working with numerous artists and companies in the UK and around the world.

Recent productions have been Londonee, Fairs not Fair, Unsung, Enigmas, Romeo & Juliet and Maisy by Nancy Paton. He is artistic director of Tamarind Theatre co. He is currently in pre production with ‘Aghori,’ a Hindi film by Tarun Jasani based on Kurosawa’s Yojimbo. He is also filming ‘The Infiltrator,’ directed by Brad Furman, due for release 2016.

Samantha Lawrence

Samantha Lawrence (VP Business Operations and Production, Factual & Entertainment)

Prior to joining NBC, Samantha was MD at Silver River for 9 years. Having started her career at the BBC she had a long stint at Maverick Television before setting up Love Productions, From running productions to running a Company, Samantha applies the same skillset – watertight knowledge and experience, with an eye for spotting and nurturing talent along the way.

Linda French

Linda French (Agent – APM Associates)

Linda French is Managing Director and Founder of APM Associates – a well established agency.  APM is celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary – a company Linda grew from a client base of 6 to a present day client base of 85 and is based at Elstree Studios.

APM Associates has an impressive list of credits with actors currently working for high profile companies in Theatre, Film,TV, Radio and in the corporate and commercial world.

Prior to APM, Linda French was herself an Actress.

Not one to rest on her laurels Linda also offers Masterclasses in ‘Acting as a Business’  and  1 to  1 Skype Coaching Sessions for performers.

Amy Ball

Amy Ball (Head of Casting – Royal Court)

Amy Ball is Head of Casting at the Royal Court Theatre where she casts all productions for the Theatre Upstairs and Downstairs. Recent work includes Hangmen; Escaped Alone; Linda; Liberian Girl; The Twits; Violence and Son and How to Hold Your Breath.

Previous work at the Royal Court includes Constellations; Jumpy; Posh; The River; Love and Information; In Basildon; Love, Love, Love; Choir Boy; Chicken Soup With Barley; Jerusalem (Royal Court/ Apollo); Sucker Punch and The Vertical Hour.

Recent freelance work includes Measure for Measure (Young Vic); The Moderate Soprano (Hampstead).

Baff Akoto
Director

Baff‘s debut was the acclaimed feature documentary FOOTBALL FABLES. He’s since gone on to direct drama for Channel 4 and the BBC. He’s most recently worked on the BBC1 legal/crime thriller UNDERCOVER and will next be directing on HOLBY CITY. Baff‘s currently developing a feature film and the only thing he loves more than working with actors is jollof rice!

The Femmes are a close harmony girl band who bring vintage right up to date in their own cheeky way! They can transport you back to the 1940s or have you up jiving to contemporary hits with sassy retro twists. They simply adore creating mash-ups that fuse the here-and-now with the old-school classics. They are based in London but perform all over the UK at gigs, festivals, weddings and events.

MonologueSlam UK Masterclasses are part of the TCN’s continued drive to promote and develop talent. Two attendees will be chosen from the Masterclass to perform at MonologueSlam UK.
Audition for the chance to perform at the National MonologueSlam UK Final in London. The show will take place on Monday 17th December 2018.
MonologueSlam UK – the industry showcase for actors from all backgrounds returns to Los Angeles in November.
Audition for the chance to perform in the Youth Round (11-17) at MonologueSlam UK London. The show will take place on Monday 17 December.
