MonologueSlam Birmingham November Winners!
MonologueSlam London returned to Birmingham Repertory Theatre for the last West Midlands slam of the year. Judging the 22 performances were actor/director Tonia Daley-Campbell, casting director Jane Anderson, Resident Assistant Director at Birmingham REP, Hannah Jones, actor/director Corey Campbell, agent Alan Sharman, award winning writer Claire Bennett, producer Lee Thomas (currently a producer for BBC’s Doctors) and actor Laura Rollins, who play nurse Ayesha in the West Midlands soap.
(From left to right, Ruby Richards, Cassandra Wiggan and Marcel White)
Ruby Richards was the chosen winner of the Youth Round for her performance of ‘Child of War’. Cassandra Wiggan won the one minute round for her performance of self penned piece ‘Venus’. Marcel White won the three minute round with the monologue ‘Freeman’ by Camilla Whitehall.
The overall winner voted for by the judges was Cassandra Wiggan – but the team were so impressed by both Cassandra and Marcel’s performances, that BOTH of them will be representing Birmingham in the National Final on 11th December.
The judges had an incredibly tough decision to make in selecting winners, therefore awarded special mentions for each round – with two special mentions in the 3 minute round.
(From left to right, Simran Rakar (Youth Round), Jordan Clarke (one minute), Emilia Nurnukhametova and Dominic Thompson (both in the three minute round).
