MonologueSlam BRM Winners!
The MonologueSlam train rolled into Birmingham yesterday, showcasing an amazing array of West Midlands talent! Our industry panel included Alison Soloman, Casting Co-Ordinator at the REP, Claire Birch, Associate Producer at the Royal Shakespeare Company, Polly Andrews, Agent at Polly’s Agency, and Dawn Coulson, Producer of BBC’s Doctors. Dawn brought along a few of the cast members of Doctors to check out their competition!
Congratulations to Olivia Moore, who retained her Youth Round title against some stiff competition. And in the 1 Minute Round, Bexie Archer also retained her title,bagging another trophy for her mantelpiece. The judges Special Mention in the 1 Minute Round went to Paula Wharton. All the 1 Minute Round actors followed up their performances with a quick fire Improv Round to entertain the audience. The special mention for the 3 Minute Round was awarded to Kieran J Amos, with the winning spot going to Eva Thorne. Eva was also named overall winner which means go through to the national final of MonologueSlam UK in London on 14th December, for the chance to win a year’s free membership to Spotlight, not to mention the title of MonologueSlam UK Champion of 2015! Olivia, Bexie and Eva will all be invited back to the next Birmingham MonologueSlam in December to defend their titles.

The evening was hosted by the wonderful Dean Smith (Last Tango in Halifax), who kept the audience entertained all night long, with a live acoustic set from the very talented Namiwa Jazz. Her new EP, “My Garden of Eden” is out now on Bandcamp!
