MonologueSlam London March Winners!

Last night we were back at our home, Theatre Royal Stratford East, for the very first MonologueSlam UK of the year. We started with a clean slate for 2018, with 22 actors taking to the stage. Judging the performances were agents Stuart Piper with assistant Naomi Everson from Intertalent (formally Cole Kitchen), as well as Ben Bailey, an agent from the Actorshop Agency, and casting director Suzy Catliff. TV director Charlie Hanson completed the panel.

The Winners:

(From left to right, Georgia Taylforth, Alexander Uzoka, Georgia Frost)

With some amazing talent on show, the evening proved to be a triumph for the Georgia’s! Alexander Uzoka bucked the evening’s trend of female winners, by taking home the Youth Round trophy for his performance of Burying Your Brother in the Pavement by Jack Thorne. Alex has performed in the Youth Round at MonologueSlam a few times now and has picked up an agent from his performances. But the 1 Minute and 3 Minute Rounds were both won by women, with Georgia Taylforth winning the 1 Minute Round with her self-penned piece, The Offside Rule. While Georgia Frost triumphed in the 3 Minute Round, also with a self written piece called Experiment. Georgia Frost was then selected as the Overall Winner, and will go through to the National Final in December, as well as coming back in July to defend her title.

Congratulations to all of you!

Special mentions:

The judges awarded Special Mention to one performer in each round. Congratulations to our stand out stars below:

We’d also like to say well done to Anthony Lee, who put his name in for the Golden Ticket competition and was selected by Chizzy Akudolu to come up on stage and perform a monologue. No easy feat to go from sitting in the audience to performing on stage, well done Anthony!

We were treated to comedy from our resident improv group Shoot From The Hip as well as music from our special guest Louise Golbey – such a great start to the year! We can’t wait to see you at our next MonologueSlam which will be in Manchester on Thurs 19th April.

We’ll be back in London in July with another Slam, so look out for auditions which will take place in June. Details will be on the website soon!

I adore all that TriForce are, do and represent. I feel exceptionally lucky for all that you've given me. I'm in a great place, with a new agent - Gordon and French - and my second TV job ahead. I honestly wouldn't be in this place without the support and opportunities given to me through The Actors Gym with the fabulous Babou, MonologueSlams and ongoing advice and guidance from the entireTriForce team. THANK YOU!

I’ve been to Monologue Slam twice and have been amazed by the level of talent I’ve seen. It’s a great evening and a chance to meet new actors. It’s led to actors coming to meet with us and even gaining roles in some of our projects. I can’t wait to go again.
