MonologueSlam Manchester April Winners!
Last night MonologueSlam returned to its Manchester home, 53Two. We had a bit of a Corrie reunion, with actor Tristan Gemmill, director Jordan Hogg and ITV Casting Associate Joanne Moss on the judging panel. They were joined by agent Nicola Bolton from Regan Management and LA acting coach Carol Wilson. We also enjoyed the comic talents of host Judi Love, making her MonologueSlam debut!
After all 22 performers showcased their talent, the judges had a tough decision to make!
(From left to right, Fikayo Falade, Ade Ajibade, Eva McKenna)
Fikayo Falade won the Youth Round with her performance of Ferrett Envy by Tara Meddaugh, while Defending Champion Ade Ajibade, retained her One Minute Round title with the monologue Smuggling by Louise Ogunnaike. Our Three Minute Round winner was Eva McKenna, with a self penned piece, This Woman’s Worth. Eva was our Overall Winner and will be representing Manchester at the National Final in London in December. Well done to our winners!
It was a tough decision for the judges, they awarded a Special Mention in the 1 Minute Round and two Special Mentions in the Three Minute! From left to right we have Mekisha Brown (1 Minute Round), Defending Champion Bexie Archer (3 Minute Round) and Victoria Oxley (3 Minute Round). Their monologues were Promises, Promises by Joseph Arnone (Mekisha), A Little Bit Rapey, written by herself, (Bexie), and Leaking From Every Orifice by Claire Dowie (Victoria).
