MonologueSlam is a nationwide industry showcase for actors from all backgrounds. 22 actors are given the opportunity to perform for a welcoming audience and a panel of industry professionals who are in a position to move their careers forward. This event helps performers that may not have access to the usual routes into the industry and provides agents and casting directors with an avenue to source fresh talent.
The show consists of a youth round (performers aged between 11-17) 1 minute round and 3 minute round, where each actor will perform a monologue of their choice.
December’s MonologueSlam is the National Final, where winners of MonologueSlam 2018 throughout the regions (and London) are all invited to perform once again, alongside performers selected from the auditions

Claire originally trained as an actress in LA before returning to the UK to embark on a career in talent management.
She began working at Grantham Hazeldine, where she worked for a number of years successfully building her own list focussing mainly on leading musical theatre actors. She then worked at Markham, Froggatt and Irwin and United Agents working across TV, Film and Theatre for both high profile clients and new, up-and-coming talent.
Lola Williams is the Director of a London based talent agency New Wonder Management and has over 15 years of experience in the entertainment industry both in front of and behind the camera, for Theatre, TV, radio and live events. An active member of WFTV UK (Women in Film and Television), Lola combines her experience within the industry with an extensive track record in management consultancy. As a result she has a unique understanding of the industry from both the actor and the producer’s perspective.
Jo McLintock, through her agency A&J Management, is one of the key players in discovering new, fresh talent in the UK. The embryonic home for names such as Ben Whishaw, Nathalie Emmanuel,James Buckley, Joe Cole, Russel Band to name a few..A&J nurtures and develops talent of all ages.
Key credits include Game of Thrones, the Fast and the Furious franchise, Inbetweeners, Melrose, Reign, The Secret Garden, Summerland, Curfew.
Sarah Hughes is Alan Ayckbourn’s casting director and has also freelanced extensively for the Entertainment Department of the BBC and in TV comedy. Other theatre work includes plays for the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Birmingham Rep, and Theatre Royal Northampton, and many projects for Graeae and for Frantic Assembly. She was also a Senior Cast Co-ordinator for the London 2012 opening and closing ceremonies. She has worked for the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough for a number of years, and has recently cast their 2018 season and the current Christmas show, ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Recently she cast MACBETH – her third production for Stafford Shakespeare, following OTHELLO and THE TEMPEST in 2016 and 2017. She is a member of the Casting Directors’ Guild, and also works as a teacher and lecturer.
Tracey trained at the BBC and worked on a variety of drama, children’s programmes and documentaries before realising her ambition to work in casting in the BBC Comedy department. She cast major in-house shows such as Jonathan Creek; Miranda; The Office; Extras; Little Britain and Psychoville. Since leaving the BBC to set up on her own, Tracey’s worked on shows for all the major broadcasters such as Inside No. 9; Catastrophe, Back; Not Going Out; and the film – David Brent: Life on The Road. Recent and forthcoming productions include Sally4Ever; Death on The Tyne; The Queen and I; Click & Collect; & After Life, the new Ricky Gervais series for Netflix.
Tracey is a member of the Casting Directors Guild.
Sharon has worked across all mediums in stage and screen on many award-winning productions. She primarily casts for screen now on independent films, commercials, short films and music videos.
Her film credits include: The Journey (multi-award winning), Jericho’s Walls Are Falling.
TV credits include: Murdered For Love? Samia Shahid; Queen Elizabeth I’s Secret Agents (RTS award winning and BAFTA nominated).
Amongst the multi-award winning short films she has cast are: The Outer Circle; White; Sticky; Grandfather; The Storyteller; The Chop; Crack; No Playground for Little Cowboys; Invisible. She has cast countless commercials and music videos.
Sharon is also a published author of a book of advice for actors ‘The Audition Room – A Down to Earth Guide.’
Based in London, Kadija Kamara is a singer songwriter who best describes her sound as ‘Alt Soul’. With a love of 60’s and 70’s analogue sounds, Kadija combines her affinity for retro soul music with a host of modern influences. To date, her accomplishments include winning the MTV Iggy Artist Of The Week poll, voted by readers, and being awarded funding for her Artist Development Programme by PRS for Music. From collaborations with the likes of Joey Negro, Zed Bias plus many more, to backing vocals for Zara McFarlane on …Later With Jools Holland. Kadija has released records under various labels, including Z Records, Defected, and Soul Heaven among others.
Kadija recently curated a night called Lady, which showcases leading female musicians in the underground and commercial music scenes. She currently holds a residency at the popular Music venue ‘The Finsbury’, with label/promoters Lost In The Manor. Its huge running success led to the first Lady Festival at ‘Pop Brixton’ in October last year, marking the first Birthday of LADY & LADY Live Events.
Having had the stunning ‘Eyes On You’ selected by readers for Tom Robinson’s Fresh On The Net’, and with praise from CLASH, The Revue, FAME Magazine, Get In Her Ears, and Hype Machine to name a few, the stage and her her long-awaited EP Nothing Left To Lose is now here. It’s a diverse set of songs showcasing her broad emotional range and tinderbox potential. Mostly, it’s a clear indicator that Kadija is a free-thinking experimentalist producing work that is totally unique and risque, and that already puts her ahead in the game.
Jimmy Akingbola is an award-winning actor/producer and co-founder of The TriForce Creative Network, an organisation set up to promote equal opportunities in the entertainment industry.
Jimmy is living and working between Los Angeles and London producing and managing TCN events, creating business relationships and expanding the TCN brand in the USA. He’s is best known for his roles as super-villain Baron Reiter in DC Comics’ superhero drama, Arrow; the sharp-shooting surgeon Antoine Malick in the BBC’s award-winning hospital drama, Holby City, and the hilarious characters Crackhead Mick in the BAFTA award-winning BBC Two comedy Rev and Valentine in the Award Winning Idris Elba Sky1 comedy In The Long Run..
